1. Rákóczi Museum
The Rakoczi Museum, one of Tekirdağ's historical treasures, is situated in a historic house on Barbaros Street in the Ertuğrul neighborhood. This house is known to have been the residence of Hungarian Prince II. Ferenc Rákóczi between 1720 and 1735, where he lived for a total of 15 years. Acquired by the Hungarian Government in 1932 and converted into a museum, this house today makes a significant contribution to Tekirdağ's cultural heritage. II. Ferenc Rákóczi, coming from the wealthy landowning Rákóczi family of Hungary, sought refuge in the Ottoman Empire after leading the Hungarian uprising against Austria. He lived a peaceful life in Tekirdağ until his death in the house purchased by Sultan III. Ahmet. This house is the only surviving part of the complex of 24 houses where Rákóczi lived in Tekirdağ. Subsequently, the house was restored and converted into a museum. The museum offers visitors valuable items from the period of II. Ferenc Rákóczi, including documents, and oil paintings of those who participated in the independence struggle. The inscriptions at the entrance clearly state why the house was restored by the Hungarian Government. Additionally, inside the museum, visitors can see a large oil portrait of II.
